This is a mandatory, three-day initial accreditation course required by the EPA and the State of Michigan for anyone performing asbestos inspections and sampling. The course provides comprehensive training on federal (AHERA/ASHARA) and state regulations, teaching individuals to identify, assess, and safely collect bulk samples of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in public, commercial, and school buildings. Successful completion allows attendees to apply for Michigan state certification to conduct legally compliant asbestos inspections.

Upon completion, attendees will be able to perform inspections in accordance with EPA and Michigan law, including identifying suspect ACMs, conducting safe bulk sampling, and creating defensible inspection reports. Graduates are qualified to submit their certificate to the State of Michigan to obtain their initial Asbestos Inspector certification, which is required to rebut OSHA’s Presumed Asbestos Containing Material (PACM) designation and perform due diligence for construction activities.
